Save The Date: Food and Wine Festival Ixtapa 2012

Often, the best way to get to know a country is through its food and culinary traditions.  This is especially true of Mexico.  Each of 32 Mexican states boasts distinct flavors, world acclaimed chefs, and exquisite traditions, that separates it from the others.

Last year Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo was selected to host Mexico’s first ever Food & Wine Festival: 32 Tastes. 1 History. 1 Soul.  The event was such a success that the event will be repeated this year, featuring the best of Mexican cuisine and wines through cooking demonstrations, wine and spirits seminars and tastings.

I am looking forward to experience a culinary tour of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and the taste of Mexico through the view of acclaimed chefs, including Michael Symon, Marcus Samuelsson, wine expert Mark Oldman and other culinary masters.

Capella Ixtapa’s Executive Chef, Gonzalo Rivera, is especially excited about the food and wine festival.  He is already planning new dishes!  When I asked him what I could hope to see, he answered me cryptically, “Dishes based on the secrets of the region through its flavors, aromas and spices, characteristic for the gastronomic culture of Guerrero.”  And while I still have many questions, my stomach is already grumbling!

If you are as excited as I am to partake in the event then save the dates March 22-24, 2012, and come experience the taste of Mexico. Capella Ixtapa is hosting both a Tequila Tasting Seminar with Mark Oldman, as well as a chocolate tasting!  See you then!
